Eighty-one degrees and a whispering breeze,
Cloudless sky, sun high with ease.
Sunglass eyes scan the scene,
Moors and McCumber sing summer serene.
Plastic wine glass waltzing in wind,
While mandolins hum and harmonicas grin.
Folding chairs cradle stories and stares,
As freedom-tipped toes find solace out there.
Tee shirts and tattoos, cowboy hats,
Baseball caps shading this, shading that.
Swallows dive for their twilight feast,
Dogs on leashes sniff a fellow furry beast.
Flip flops slap in time to the beat,
Panama hats catch the heat.
Bermuda shorts and artist dates,
Where time meanders and no one waits.
The longest day draws neighbors near—
Pickleball pals, old friends reappear.
Baby bumps and white muzzled mutts,
Food truck gourmet, pollen smudged butts.
Korg chords swirl through pine-scented air,
While ladies in gauze dance without a care.
Watermelon capris, shiny bald domes,
Kids cartwheel where wildness roams.
No A/C hum or bug spray sting,
Humidity free, it’s Summer’s first fling.
Tanned skin tells of Spring’s goodbye—
Hello to solstice under Colorado’s sky.
So here's to concerts and season's start,
To sunlit reunions and open hearts.
Adios, Spring, the music’s begun—
Evergreen sings: welcome, Summer fun.
Great job! It flows really well and is full of imagery that brings your experience to life. I am curious about those pollen-smudged butts! 😀
